HBAS on the bluffs
meet-up 4: polar bears & beach breakfast bites
It's time to reconnect with the soulful traditions of Oak Bluffs. For you morning birds, whether you're a cherished regular or have long dreamt of experiencing the famed Inkwell Beach Polar Bears, prepare to immerse yourselves in an authentic group experience in Oak Bluffs. This isn't just a dip in the ocean; it's a communion with history and community.
The Inkwell Beach Polar Bears, founded in 1946, have long stood as a vital beacon—a sacred and welcoming space for Black swimmers. Their enduring presence has deeply enriched the community for over 75 years, transforming the beach into a place of healing, rejuvenation, and profound belonging. Joining their circle is to participate in a living ritual, leaving behind life's worries and emerging more whole, celebrating both individual spirit and collective heritage.
Arrive at Inkwell Beach around 7 AM, ready to join the circle by 7:30AM. We will be out before 9 AM, at which point you'll have the cherished opportunity to join the Polar Bear group with a cash donation, contributing to this invaluable legacy. Please stay for light breakfast beach bites at our table until 10 AM.
Registered alumni will also receive our exclusive HBAS on the Bluffs limited edition swag.
Suggested attire: swimming suit, water shoes, beach towel, beach chair.
