HBAS April 5, 2023 Statement on
Harvard Police Raid
HBAS,
We are writing to alert you to a disturbing incident that happened on Harvard’s campus early Monday morning. According to The Harvard Crimson, four Black Leverett House seniors were held at gunpoint during a raid of their dorm room by at least five Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) officers responding to a false report. HBAS is horrified and upset that Black students at Harvard endured such trauma in their own homes, where they should have been assured the utmost safety. We reached out to a number of our contacts at the University and in Cambridge for more information. We are also contacting the Black Students Association and the students involved with the incident to lend our support and to share a gracious offer by HBAS Advisory Board member Zee Clarke to host a healing workshop for BSA. We will continue to keep you posted as we learn more.
