Be the change:

A Fireside Chat with Avra Rice, President & CEO of the New York Urban League

AN HBAS and HCNY Co-Sponsored Event

Join us at the Harvard Club of New York for a fascinating fireside chat with New York Urban League President & CEO Arva Rice, who will shed light on her top priorities as the leader of one of our city’s oldest and most storied civil rights organizations. Rice is a fixture on the New York City civic scene. She has served as Interim Chair of the Civilian Complaint Review Board (reviewing complaints against New York City police officers) and as a member of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Nonprofit Services Nonprofit Advisory Council. In January, she was appointed Co-Chair of the NYC Commission to Strengthen Local Democracy, which will review the New York City Charter with the goal of improving and restoring public confidence in city government through enhancing local democracy, government accountability and transparency.

For over 100 years, the New York Urban League has worked tirelessly to help New Yorker’s live the lives they deserve to lead, often fighting on the front line for education, economic and civil rights for Black and underserved communities across the five boroughs.  One of our City’s most trusted and respected civic leaders, there are few who speak truth to power and champion the voice of New York’s underserved communities like Arva Rice.
