HBAS NY Community Care Initiative
A New york urban league SERVICE EVENT

Join the Harvard Black Alumni Society of New York in partnership with the New York Urban League for a special community service event. This year, HBAS NY is proud to sponsor the William M Young, Jr. Scholarship Program through a series of events supporting their academic journeys and eventual career success. We are excited to kick off this exciting initiative with Black History Month!
Each year, the William M Young, Jr. Scholarship Program awards scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 to exceptional high school seniors and recent graduates who have not yet enrolled in college. Since the program’s inception, NYUL has awarded and leveraged over $20 million to support more than 4,000 African American and LatinX students as they pursue higher education.
Our first event will take place at the brand-new National Urban League Headquarters, which opened just last fall. Together, we’ll be assembling wellness care packages to help students prepare for their upcoming midterm exams. After, we will be enjoying a small group dinner for more intimate conversation.
We’re asking for support from the HBAS community in two ways:
1. Volunteer
Join us in person to help assemble care packages for students.
📍 Location: National Urban League HQ
📅 Date & Time: February 17, 5:30 - 7:30pm
2. Sponsor the Event
If you’re unable to attend, you can still make an impact by purchasing one or two items from our Amazon wishlist to support the care packages:
