A Black Maternal Health Week Event

Join the Harvard Black Alumni Society for a special invitation-only event: Movies & Movements on Motherhood at the IFC Center — an afternoon of powerful films, conversation and community connection in recognition of Global Maternal Health Day, Black Maternal Health Week, and Maternal Mental Health Week.  This is such an opportunity to explore this important topic through film and panels with incredible leaders from the community.

This multi‑part afternoon film screening brings together award‑winning documentary and narrative storytelling with advocates, clinicians and creators.

We are particularly excited to support HMS ’20 alumna, Brittney Russell whose film, You Are Not Alone and follow-up panel will be closing the day's event.  Brittney's work is rooted in the resilience, creativity, and cultural richness of her hometown in the Bronx. Through documentary storytelling, she uplifts overlooked voices and explores themes of identity, justice, and lived experience. Grounded in care and collaboration, Brittney believes storytelling can strengthen community, preserve history, and spark meaningful dialogue.

You can feel free to drop in for the portions of the program that interest you — you do not need to attend the full program but are welcome to sign up for the whole event.
