Please join HBAS in just one week on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, when the HBAS community will come together for #GivingTuesday, a global movement that celebrates and encourages philanthropic giving.
This year, HBAS hopes to raise $25,000 to support the following exciting offerings for current Harvard students and alumni across the country:
Unity Weekend: Celebrating Harvard Alumni of Color (Friday - Sunday, October 9-11, 2020): For the first time ever, in October 2020, HBAS will join with three other HAA Shared Interest Groups (Harvard Asian American Alumni Alliance, Harvard Latino Alumni Alliance, and Native American Alumni of Harvard University) in hosting Unity Weekend, a three-day conference convening and celebrating Harvard alumni of color. Open to all alumni, the weekend will be a forum for diverse communities to come together for candid conversations on complex issues at the intersection of identity, inclusion, and impact. Please mark your calendars now and consider giving to make this the most robust reunion possible!
HBAS Holiday Parties: In December, HBAS regional chapters will host holiday parties for HBAS membership and their loved ones. Please see "save the date" notices for our upcoming parties--as a note, subsequent emails will share fully detailed logistics for each event.
- Los Angeles: Sunday, December 15
- Washington DC: Monday, December 16
- Chicago: Tuesday, December 17
- New York City: Wednesday, December 18
HBAS Summer Community Service Fellowship: HBAS supports the HBAS Summer Community Service Fellowship, which enables Harvard undergraduates to perform public service in one of several communities across the country. In 2019, HBAS provided $3,500 to a Harvard College sophomore to conduct a 10-week long public service project teaching African-American Studies to 7th-9th graders in Maryland Heights, MO. Funds above and beyond the $3500 goal will be reserved for additional Fellowships.
As a valued member of the HBAS community, we ask that you please make a donation to HBAS and spread the word about HBAS's #GivingTuesday campaign and your gift to your network by email and social media. Additionally, don't forget to follow HBAS on Facebook and Instagram for info about additional upcoming opportunities to support our philanthropic efforts!
